Many have known that the natural state of the human body is health. We see this when we scratch or cut our finger and soon it heals often without intervention. Sometimes this fact is disregarded or taken for granted when we should be doing all that we can to assist ourselves with this process. But how do we help ourselves maintain a high level of health? One of the most important aspects of maintaining good health is nutrition.
“Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” — Hippocrates
As one looks around today it becomes apparent that our nutritional choices are having a greater impact on the health of our society. Cheaper and more convenient food choices present themselves more readily than the better choice that most of us should be following. Sometimes we find ourselves owning a habit that has been achieved by seemingly inconsequential small choices that before long amount to a much greater negative impact on our health. As often is the case, only a sudden dramatic or traumatic change forces us to understand the consequences of our nutritional choices.
